Petite Petit 2007

"From the same producers that brought us such wonderful wine as 7 Deadly Zins and Earthquake Zinfandel, we now offer Petite Petit. And it is a doozy. 85% petite sirah and 15% petit verdot. This is a full-bodied bomb! It is jam packed with notes of black currant and dark cherry, as I would expect from petite sirah but the petit verdot adds an entirely new quality. And, quite frankly it is an unfamiliar grape to me. Yes, I have come across it in Bordeaux blends but not when it is one of only two grapes as it is offered here. The wines that I have tasted with petit verdot do tend to be fairly robust so this leads me to believe that on its own this big grape with the little name could pack a massive punch."

"Like elephants whose size is imposing, Petite Petit is large! The wine is opaque dark purple and opens with a very inviting violet and plum-like bouquet. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is quite silky and smooth. It displays very jammy black current-like flavors with notes of dry blackberries and vanilla as well. The finish is dry, and lingers slightly.

A boastful blend of 85% Petite Sirah and 15% Petit Verdot. Aged 14 months in French oak"
