Nine Stones Mclaren Vale Shiraz 2008

This delicious bargain Shiraz is from the premium Australian wine region of McLaren Vale. The area located about five miles from the sea and thus the climate is strongly maritime influenced. Elevation at McLaren Vale is only some 80 feet on average and proximity to the ocean provides cool nights during the ripening period that are so essential for quality grape production. The most associated style for the wines is a fleshy mid-palate and the best wines from this region display a dark color and a rich, ripe bouquet, with the blackberry characters bolder and brighter than those of the Barossa. The tannins in these wines quickly develop a velvety character, hence the fleshy mid-palate.
