Lockwood Vineyard Estate Syrah 2005

Although the San Lucas AVA is fairly warm, the 2005 vintage was moderate enough to yield a Syrah that exhibits a nice peppery, cool-climate character. In addition to that pepper, the wine displays plenty of bright blackberry fruit, a hint of violets and some substantial tannins. The wine was aged in French oak, and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon (1.2 percent) was added to the final blend.
